Case study
Rolling Loud Orlando: $1M spend to $13M revenue
WVE was brought in to drive ticket revenue for Rolling Loud Orlando in a saturated festival market. $1M in media spend generated $13M in revenue — a 13× blended return, from 2,400+ pieces of content and 310M+ impressions.
The result
- $13M revenue from $1M spend
- A 13× blended return on media investment.
- 2,400+ pieces of content
- Produced and distributed across platforms.
- 310M+ impressions
- Delivered across organic and paid channels.
The brief
Drive ticket revenue for a festival competing in a saturated market.
The difficulty in live events is not awareness in the abstract — it's that the target audience is being marketed to by more competing events than it could possibly attend, usually with similar lineups, similar creative and overlapping dates. Being seen is not enough. The campaign has to convert attention into a purchase decision against direct alternatives, on a deadline that cannot move.
That deadline is the defining constraint. A product launch can slip. A festival date cannot, and unsold inventory has no residual value the day after.
The play
Mass social distribution
Rather than a small number of hero assets, the campaign ran content at volume — 2,400+ pieces in total. Each piece was a platform-native variation: different hooks, framings, lengths, artist focus and edits.
The reason for volume is mechanical rather than stylistic. Platform recommendation systems decide what to distribute by testing content against small audiences and expanding what performs. One asset gets one test. Two thousand assets get two thousand tests, and the winners surface quickly instead of being guessed at in advance.
Creator and meme-page seeding
Content was seeded through creators and meme pages rather than pushed only from official festival channels.
This matters for live events specifically, because the decision to buy a ticket is heavily social. People go to festivals with other people, and the trigger is more often a friend or a community they follow than an advert. Placing the campaign inside the accounts that community already trusts puts it in the context where the decision actually gets made.
Precision media buying
Paid media came last, deliberately. By the time budget was deployed, the organic phase had already established which hooks, formats and artist angles were earning attention — so spend went behind proven creative rather than funding a hypothesis.
This sequencing is the main reason the return is 13× rather than a category-typical multiple. The media budget was not paying to discover what worked; it was paying to scale something already known to work.
Why it worked
- Volume produced information, not just reach. 2,400+ pieces of content generated enough performance signal to make media decisions with confidence instead of judgement.
- Distribution went where the decision happens. Creator and community seeding reached the audience inside the social context that drives ticket purchases.
- Spend followed evidence. Paid media amplified winners rather than testing candidates, which is what compresses cost per acquisition.
- The whole system ran in one place. Creative, distribution, measurement and buying were not handed between agencies, so the loop from signal to decision was hours rather than weeks.
The services behind it
- Social media growth & distribution — content multiplication and creator seeding.
- Paid & organic media — precision media buying and live optimisation.
- Data tracking & optimisation — the live performance signal that determined where spend went.
Frequently asked questions
- What did WVE do for Rolling Loud Orlando?
- WVE ran the campaign to drive ticket revenue for Rolling Loud Orlando in a saturated festival market. The approach combined mass social distribution with creator and meme-page seeding, followed by precision media buying applied behind the content that had already earned organic traction.
- What results did the Rolling Loud Orlando campaign achieve?
- $1M in media spend generated $13M in revenue, a 13× blended return. The campaign produced 2,400+ pieces of content and delivered 310M+ impressions.
- Why did the campaign produce 2,400+ pieces of content?
- Because platform recommendation systems need many attempts to find the version of an idea that resonates with a given audience. Producing thousands of platform-native variations gives the algorithm thousands of chances to find an audience, and simultaneously generates the performance data that determines where paid media should go.
- How does a 13× return on ad spend happen?
- By committing paid budget only to creative that has already demonstrated organic traction. Running content at volume organically first identifies the winning hooks and formats for free, so media spend amplifies a proven asset rather than funding an untested one.
- Can this approach work for other live events?
- The mechanics — trend-led creative, content at volume, creator and community seeding, then media buying against live signal — are not festival-specific and are applied across WVE’s work. Results depend on the strength of the underlying product and the competitiveness of the market.
